European car hire excess insurance cover

Annual, multi-trip car hire excess insurance - ideal for those travelling regularly within Europe.

If someone close to you will be travelling separately at another point in the year, you don't need to purchase an additional policy. Select our family and partners policy to enable another driver to have their excess covered even if they hold a rental agreement separate from your own.

Collision damage waiver is also available in the rare instance that your rental agreement doesn't include it. If you’re hiring a car in Europe Collision Damage Waivers (CDW) are normally included in the price of your rental. In the United States and some other nations however, you may need more than just excess insurance. If CDW is not included with your car hire agreement, you can purchase this cover via our Worldwide+ policy or our USA and Canada cover. Find out more.

Insurance4carhire’s European cover allows you the confidence to get out and explore all the continent has to offer. Our policies will reimburse you for excess payments in the event of an accident or theft of your hire car.

Choose our family and partners policy to allow another person close to you to rent a car as the lead name on the rental agreement.  This policy is ideal if you and a loved one know that you may not be travelling together on all of your trips throughout the the year. This is also useful should you need to rent two cars at the same time.

Plus, benefit from great cover such as misfueling, bumps and scrapes however minor and multi-lingual international emergency assistance. We'll cover you for damage to the undercarriage, wheels, tyres, windows and roof where car hire companies don't.

Decent insurance. Easily accessible info. Swift and secure. The car rental companies have a lot to learn from you.

Goldcar car hire firm at Pisa Airport refused to accept your insurance document and forced us to take their own excess insurance, costing the equivalent of £150 for 5 days. We had already paid Holiday Autos for the car hire, so we had to pay up. On our previous holiday, in Kefalonia, we had no problems and your insurance was accepted. Any advice on how we should proceed when your insurance is rejected by a car hire firm is welcome!
Regards, Tim Pearce

This insurance is another scam to catch out the unwary car renter.
It is of no use to me: I was told by Goldcar in Spain that this insurance would not suffice should I write off the rental car in an accident. What I need is a comprehensive insurance like the one I have on my own car which covers damage caused to th car I am driving as a result of a. Accident caused by me?

On 28-Jul-2014 the supplier responded:
Good morning,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We have tried to contact you this morning regarding this.

Here at insurance4carhire we protect your excess. Your I4CH policy protects the driver of the rental vehicle from excess charges imposed by the rental company for damage and theft, it does not cover the rental vehicle itself. In the event of a loss the hire company will charge you an excess and this is what we are protecting you against and providing the claim falls in line with the terms and conditions of the policy, we would reimburse your excess. Excess cover is voluntary in most cases, you are not obliged to insure against loss of excess. Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0844 892 1770.

Thankfully didn't need the insurance. Cheaper than through hire company, though the whole concept of car hire insurance is just another money making scheme.

As with many insurance policiies i have not exercised the product. However how about 1)issuing a news letter, that will provide information for your clients to /reduce avoid risk. of damage /breakdown
2) Encourage hire companies to include a simple explanation about how to operate the vehicle, open the bonnet, what type of engine oil to use. They always remove the hand books. How to use the jack to change a wheel
3) As a number of hire cars have been supplied without a spare wheel information about how to use the tyre repair kit.
If taking the car into europe the importance of the required safety kits and alcohol test kit.and importantly headlamp convertors
