UK Car Hire Excess Insurance FAQs
Single-trip car hire excess insurance policies provide cover for a single trip of up to 60 consecutive days. This may be right for you if you’re planning to rent a car for a one-off journey.
Annual multi-trip excess insurance policies offer excess cover for multiple trips in the UK for a year, at a fixed cost (provided no single trip exceeds 60 days). This may be the most cost-effective option if you frequently hire cars for travel or commuting.
With our UK single-trip car hire excess insurance, you’ll receive the same benefits that are included on our annual multi-trip policy. The difference is that you will be financially covered for a period of up to 60 consecutive days, and the levels of protection offered on a single-trip policy vary slightly compared to a multi-trip policy.
Yes. Our UK Car Hire Excess Insurance provides excess cover for the lead driver and also extends to up to seven additional insured drivers, as long as they are all named on the rental agreement.
Our UK Car Hire Excess Insurance does not provide CDW cover as most rentals in the UK will already include this within their rental agreement. Always check with your hire company.
Single-trip policies will typically be cheaper than an annual policy as they provide cover for a shorter amount of time. However, it could be more cost-effective to take out annual multi-trip cover if you’re hiring a vehicle for more than one trip per year.
